38614 | From Twila Mitchell: Grandpa (Mycajah Morgan) said that his father married right after his own mother had died and that he did not get along with his stepmother. (He called her "Big Red" and my grandmother would chastise him for this.) He ran away from home at the tender age of 12 and if I recall correctly he lived with is Uncle (Was it Loren?) until he was 18 or so. He said that he always believed that his stepmom was jealous or didn't like him in some way and that she favored her own children.... I don't know how she felt about him. My grandpa could be cantankerous and was most likely a hard child to handle. He also had a very generous spirit and loved to laugh. He was Scots-Irish through and through... having what we called a "Campbell Temper"... actually, most of my line have a "Campbell Temper" (haha) By that -- I mean that it's really hard to get us angry.... but once you do.... we get loud and we have a hard time calming back down! (smile) | Campbell, Mycajah Morgan (I51453)

38615 | From Twila: He was amazing, living on his own up to his death. He and Viola were married longer than most people live, having surpassed their 75th wedding anniversary before their death. Peter Dodson Campbell was a devoutly religous man and could answer most questions about the bible and flip right to the verse he wanted to tell you about! Oh... he absolutely married her immediately after the death of Mary Ella Shafer.... my records show that the date of that married Viola on March 17, 1903.... family members tell me that he felt it was imperitive that he marry immediately because he had an infact daughter that needed caring for.... and he had to earn a living so they wouldn't go hungry. 38622 | Gale Paul Fore Birth: Jan. 8, 1949 Death: Sep. 10, 2014 Gale Paul Fore, 65, of Waverly, W.Va., went on to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 10, 2014 after a long, courageous battle against Agent Orange Cancer. He was born on Jan. 8, 1949, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Maxine Katherine Fore-Bauman and Harold Bauman. He is survived by his brothers, Dale Fore (Bonnie), Carl Bauman (Jamey); sisters, Betty Uppole, Nancy Silket, Judy Roach, Evelyn Williams (Mark), Donna Knopp (Mike), Connie Cale (Steve), Shelia McLeish, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by sisters Janice Fore, Ruth Hupp, Carolyn Beary, and brother Donald Bauman. He grew up in Valley-Mills off the "Old St. Marys Pike', old Rt. 2, on the "Sugden" fruit farm of his maternal grandfathers, known as the "Old Home Place." At the age of 14, the family moved to Love Hill Road. Gale began earning his way doing small jobs at Crandall Halls Quaker State Station, the Jungle Drive- In Theater, the golf course on Rt. 31, and some times worked along side his older brother, Dale, sawing timber. Gale was a member of the 1966 graduating class of the Parkersburg High School "Big Reds". He then served his country in the U.S. Army, engaging in combat warfare with the 512, II Corps, U.S. Special Forces against the Viet-Cong overseas in the Vietnam War. As a union construction worker, he was a 30-year retired member of the Parkersburg, W.Va. Laborers Union Hall Local #1085. Gale was also on the job that fateful day on April 27, 1978, amidst the deadly construction disaster when the cooling tower collapsed at the Willow Island Power Plant in Pleasants County, W.Va., claiming 51 lives. It was a tragic day that he never forgot. Gale also took great pride in his official capacity as a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, delivering the mail for a dozen or more years along the Walker, W.Va. routes. He was a member of the Parkersburg, W.Va. Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He donated blood regularly to the Red Cross and was a long time supporter of the N.R.A. for the citizens right to bear arms in America. He was a long-time member of the Shiloh U.M. Church on Laurel Creek Rd. and the Crossroads U.M. Church on "Old St. Marys Pike", and he cared deeply for all its members. He was devoted in prayer for all of his family, friends, and community. He loved and missed his parents and all family who had passed on before him, speaking often of the memories he had shared with them and the lessons he had learned, looking forward to rejoining them again in the House of the Lord. He was always genuinely concerned about all of his brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces and great-nephews and nieces, about the well being of each and every one of them. He loved helping others. Gale also enjoyed the outdoors. Toward the end of his life here on Earth, he tended to his chickens saying how "therapeutic' it was for him. He welcomed all the wildlife that goes with living in the country. He had a green thumb for gardening. He called himself "just an old dirt farmer." He liked old vehicles, Cincinnati Reds on the radio and old-fashioned home cooked meals. He practiced early to bed and early to rise. His greatest joy in life was the time spent with Derick, his son. They did everything together - hunting, exploring, work and play, camping at Seneca Rocks, and fishing on Ocracoke Island, N.C. They laughed and cried together. Some of their greatest times were the many years and miles they traveled to race motorcycles. Gale was his son's mechanic, coach, advisor, and biggest fan. Win or lose, he always encouraged his son in everything he ever did throughout his entire life. Through thick and thin and with unconditional love, the two forged a strong, everlasting father and son bond for all of eternity. Then came his grandson, "Connor", son of Derick and Christina. Gale cherished every moment he ever spent with "Little Man", always looking forward to the next one. He was just as proud of him as any Grandpa could ever be. He will be missed dearly. Visitation will be today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg. Funeral will be Friday, September 12, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
