38764 | Hi Betty You cannot imagine how excited I am. My grandmother is absolutely going to flip!!! You see, my grandma is Ernie's daughter! I've searched several other lines, but am just beginning on this one. How wonderful to discover you so quickly. Ok, so if Ernie's sister was your grandmother, you and my mom must be cousins? They are just NOT going to believe this. We are all in Grove City, OH. Ernie had two children, Vaught and Ora (my grandmother). Ernie's husband, Cornelius Shipman Winter died very young. My grandmother was only two or three years old? My grandmother Ora married Clyde KINTZ and had four daughters: Naomi Lee Fleshman, Donna Loughry, Katherine Parsons, and Marcella Ann Ranke (my mom). I just found Ernie & Cornelius' marriage record. But that's about as far back as I can go so far. I'd be happy to share what I know, though. So very happy to hear from you! 38780 | History of Roane Co Wv: By Josephisus Jr. Beverly J. Taylor was born in Russell county, Virginia, September 22, 1831,. His father, William Taylor, (born April 21, 1811) and his mother, Mahala (Cromwell) Taylor (born in April, 1809) were each natives of the county of Russell and their ancestors for a century before them were of the early setttlers of that section of the "old Dominion." The family seems to be of Scotch and Irish extraction the former predominating. In 1854 Berverly J. Taylor married Miss Artimissa Darnnell. She was born on the 2nd day of May, 1838 and died on the 18th day of October, 1863. To them were born five children, John B. March 24, 1855, died July 12, 1873; Sophronia A. March 2nd 1875 died June 28, 1858; David A. April 14, 1859; Anna B. August 7, 1861; Artimissa October 3, 1863, died May 30, 1864. In Mason county, West Virginia, on the 16 day of February, 1873 he and Lucy J. Woody were united in marriage. She was the daughter of William G. and Mary A. (Keys) Woody and was born in Kanawha county, West Virginia, August 19, 1846. To them were born three children. She is still living. Mr. Taylor is an old school Democrat in politics but liberal and kind to those who may choose to differ from him. Beside holding several district offices he represented in part the sixth delegate distrcit of thisstate composed of the counties of Clay and Roane in the legislature of West Virginia, session of 1891. He has an extraordinary taste for literature and more especially poetry. His favorite authoris Robert Burnes. Nothing does him more good than to be with "bosom companions" who enjoy the poems, songs and espistles of the great Scotttish bard. His memory is so good even at his advanced age he can quote the whole of "Tam O'Shanter and the Cotter's Saturday Night." In person he is tall, lean and in earlier days straight but now somewhat stooped by age and infirmity, carries full flowing auburn beard has pale blue eyes and awuiline nose with well chizeled features and a fully developed head. He still lives in Geary district not far from Osborne's Mills. | Taylor, Beverly Johnson (I45534)

38796 | http://rootsweb.com/~wvjackso/obits/1912.htm At one o'clock Sunday afternoon Mr. John RHODES died of tuberculosis at his home near Huntington, WV He moved to Cabell County about 18 months ago. He was a son of Benjamin RHODES, deceased. (Mountaineer, 15 Nov 1912) At midnight that night, Mrs. Ollie (RHODES) KERWOOD, wife of Mr. J. R. KERWOOD, and a cousin of Mr. RHODES, passed away, a victim of the same disease. Mr. RHODES was a former resident of this county and was an industrious and prosperous farmer. Since that time his health has gradually failed. . Mrs. KERWOOD lingered for several months. Her demise was perhaps hastened by close confinement in nursing her son, Clyde KERWOOD, who was also a victim of the white plague. Mrs. Ollie KERWOOD, daughter of of Mr. and Mrs. D. D. RHODES, was born near Ripley, January 27, 1863. She was married in 1887 to J. R. KERWOOD. To them was born a son, Clyde, who departed this life January 31, 1912. The remains of Mr. RHODES accompanied by the widow, daughter, Miss Blanche RHODES, and brother-in-law, James PARSONS, were taken to Oak Hill Church Tuesday, where a double funeral service was conducted by Rev. RYMER and Rev. MARTIN. Mr. RHODES was 63 years of age. Mrs. KERWOOD was 49. She is survived by her husband and several brothers and sisters. The funeral was attended by a large crowd. | Rhodes, John (I3508)
