40551 | The Germanna Record: Johannes (John) Richter, son of Hans Jacob and Elisabeth Richter of Trupbach, was born Dec 1, 1711, his godfather being Johannes Fischbach, the mother's brother.Hans Jacob Richter of Trupbach was admitted tothe Guild of Steel-smelterers and Toolmakers at Freudenberg and Ferndorf on June 7, 1712. In the summer of 1713, John Hacob Rector, his wife, Elizabeth Fishback, and his son John, left Trupbach for the New World along with the other 1714 emigrants fromNassau-Seigen. The 1754 Prince William Co Rent Rolls show John with 300 acres in John Baylis's List. Died between Mar 9 and Mar 24, 1773. On Mar 9 he made deeds to various people and on Mar 24 his will was probated, Dr Salman's book gives Mar 11, 1773 as the date. Married prior to Mar 11, 1733/34 (the date of the will of John Fishback) his irst cousin, Anna Catherine, eldest daughter of John and his wife Agnes, 1714 emigrants. Dr Salmans give March 1731 as the date. On Aug 27, 1752 and July 23, 1754, John Rector was orderd by the Court to be paid as a witness or William Reddin in a suit of james Spencer (Prince William order book, 1752-3, p 221, and 1754-5, p 124) William Reading was apparently a brother of Thomas Reading, whomarried the widow of John Rector (d1742). The eldest or next eldest son of Henry Rector, son of John Jacob and brother of John (b.1711d.1773) was named Spencer Rector, which may indicate that Henry Rector's wife Anne was a sister or daughter of the James Spencer mentioned in the suit. | RECTOR, John (I122)

40552 | The Harrison County Courthouse Tithable Lists Book 1 Page 5. A List of the Whites, Buildings and Tithables in my District as by order of Court - Henry Delay - (__ _ _): 1784; Harrison County. Jacob Riffle - 9 Whites, 1 Dwelling House, 0 Outhouses, 2 Tithables. Jacob patented land in Fayette Co., PA just above the Mason Dixon Line. This part of Fayette Co. was claimed by three states: Pa, Monogalia, VA and West Augusta, Maryland. He had an early Fort where early courts were held. This fort is mentioned in various histories. However the court records burned in the 1790s fire at the courthouse in Monongalia Co. (now West Virginia). Jacob doesn't appear to be buried at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church which has the early burials. His Son George was born 13 May 1754 and married Elizabeth Waltzer/Walser. Jacob also appears to have had children named: Nicholas b. 1752, Mary Magdalene, Matthias, and a daughter said to be the d/o of Andrew M. & Abigail Riffle, however, This child, Elizabeth Riffle/Rifel was most likely Jacob's daughter. She died the winter of 1765-66. Several of my ancestors children, children of George Rifel, Sr., moved to WVA to claim lands George was awarded for service in the Revolutionary War. Many early letters have survived which state this. Also, some members went west and are also recorded in these letters. Jacob Sr. seems to have moved out of Pa. There are many deeds and several state that he sold his land to his son Nicholas who is buried at the Lutheran Church. Elizabeth, George, Mary Magdalene and Nicholas are buried at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church. Matthias moved south to around Pt. Pleasant, VA (now West Virginia). | Riffle, Jacob (I7633)

40558 | The Warren Sentinel, Thursday, January 24, 1946 The Register Man’s History Rust At one time among the most influential families of Warren County, but by reason of death of the older members, and immigration to more prosperous fields of the younger, the family is no longer numerous, The progenitor of the Rust tribe was John Warick Rust, who left England in 1650 due to his Royalistic attachments and opposition to Oliver Cromwell. He settled in Westmoreland County. In 1658, a deed for one hundred acres of land “Right on the Mochadeck River” from his father-in-law, Frances Gary, was recorded. Benedict Rust, grandson of the emigrant, John W Rust, died 1751. He crossed the Blue Ridge and settled in what is now Clarke County, on the mountain side of the Shenandoah River. His sons, Matthew and George, served in the War of 1812, in a company of Riflemen, 51st Regiment, raised in what is now Clarke County. The former as Ensign. At the Thomas Rust sale in 1819, twenty-one negroes were sold at prices running from ninety to four hundred and fifty dollars. John, George and Peter Rust all married sisters. John owned a brick manor house of fourteen rooms on the Shenandoah river in the lower end of Warren County. He was a Gentleman Justice. Cass C.B. Rust was the father of Captain John Rust, Dr Charles Rust, Ashby and Ellen, the latter married Dr Thaddeus Hayne. The family originally located on the mountain side of the Shenandoah River in what is now Clark County, and here in 1763, John Rust was appointed to view a road from the river to the county seat in Winchester. In 1790, Peter Rust, a Revolutionary soldier, was awarded a pension of ten pounds ($333.33), and in 1794 he was appointed Captain of Militia. Benedict Rust was appointed Constable in 1790. In this year there seems to have been litigation in the Rust families, for the Court orders “Benjamin Rust to pay Samuel Rust three hundred and thirty pounds of tobacco, for five days attendance as witness in the suit of Benjamine Rust vs. Peter Rust. The witness collected for thirty five miles traveled, and twice crossing the Shenandoah River by ferry. In 1831, John Rust was appointed Gentleman Justice with a seat on the County Court. In the War Between the States, William O Rust, Sargeant of the Warren Rifles, had several fingers shot off and was transferred to the quartermaster’s department. Bushrod Rust served in Company E of the 7th Va Cavalry and was later transferry to the 11th Cavalry. Dr John M Rust was a Surgeon attached to Floyd’s Division. | Family F2747

40577 | This sketch taken from "Pioneers of Jackson County", by John House, it appears in the section "Sycamore Creek" Straley Family There lived in the first and second decades of the century, on the site of the old fort on Hacker's Creek, in Lewis County, a man by the name of Christian Straley, a native of Germany. His wife's name was Elizabeth Bonnett. There were three sons, all of whom married and settled on Hacker's Creek. Their names were George, Stephen and Jacob. George Straley lived on the farm where West Fort stood on Hacker's Creek, traces of the fort were yet visible in the 1800's. He married a Chapman. Stephen was born in Lewis County in 1801, and died in 1885. About 1857, or 1858, they came to Mill Creek, Stephen locating on the farm where Martin Ables lived, and George bought the house by the creek where the German lived, now owned by William Carney. Jacob returned to Lewis County without purchasing. Stephen married Mary Alkire. His son, Christian Straley, born in 1828, marred Anna, daughter of Alex Ables, New Year's Day, in 1852. On the following October 7th, he died, and on December 10th, was born his twin children, Margaret E. and Hannah E. Stephen Straley and wife and two grown sons are buried in the northeast quarter of the old cemetery at Ripley. About one fourth mile above the Sycamore bridge and the two runs previously mentioned, a considerable branch comes in from the left. There stands in the little bottom where this run flows from the hills, an old vacant, tumble down, hewed log house. Just in front of this stood the dwelling of John F. Parsons, the son of Captain Billy, who was born in the tree. A more detailed genealogy of the Straley family, an outline of which has been given before, is as follows: Christian Straley, a native of Germany, came to America, lived at the fort on Hacker's Creek. He married Elizabeth Bonnett. They had three sons, two of whom lived in Jackson County. George Straley married a Chapman. Elizabeth married Jim Wolfe and lived on Station Camp. Abe. Angeline married first a Rollins, and later she married Chris Rhodes, a cousin of "Uncle" Johnny Rhodes. Hannah married Sandusky Harpold. Cinderella married William Staats. Martha married Dan Bartlett. Liza married Brooks Kessel. Amelia died unmarried. Jacob married Hannah Staats. Stephen Straley was born February 4th, 1806, married Mary Alkire in Lewis County. He died July 8th, 1885. His wife was born in 1815, and died in 1879. Of their children: Elizabeth married John Ferguson, and lived on Sycamore. He died in 1906. Christian Straley, born in 1828, died in 1852, married Anna Ables. They had twin daughters, Margaret E. and Hannah E. [In the Bonnett sketch, House says "Another sister (of William Bonnett) is said to have been the mother of George and Stephen Straley.". . .bb] | Family F2716

40584 | Thought you might like some more info on John Wolf. Her married Phebe Ann (Wells) Howard 3 Nov 1864 in Meigs County, Ohio. She was the widow of Joshua W Howard. She was the daughter of James Wells and Esther Elizabeth Decker. Phebe and Joshua were listed in Meigs County 1860 Census. Joshua died 03 Nov 1862 and was buried in the Browning Cemetery in Portland, Ohio. John and Phebe appear in the 1870 Census of Center, Doniphan, Kansas, USA. He appears to have died around 16 June 1873 because this is the date Phebe filed for his Civil War pension as his widow. Phebe appears in the 1880 Census of Washington, Buchanan, Missouri, USA as Phoeba Woolf. Appears in 1 Mar 1895 Census of Elwood, Doniphan, Kansas, USA with son William. Appears in 1 March 1905 Elwood, Doniphan, Kansas, USA’'. Phebe dies 06 Dec 1906 in Doniphan, Kansas, USA. I have confirmed this is as the correct John Wolf though my Ancestry DNA.
