1st Virginia Regiment: Daniel, George, Sr and John Casto of Harrison County

      Revolutionary Soldiers
Casto, John Sr. Listed in an article in the Jackson Herald as a Revolutionary soldier. Came to Mason county about 1813 from the Harrison county area. He was then married and had a son, John J Casto, who was also married and had two sons and two daughters who were under 10 years of age in 1820. John J married Gracey, a daughter of James McDade. John Casto Sr was deceased before 1831.

John A House: 'Pioneers of Jackson County':
      pg 135
John Casto and William Casto are said to be brothers of each other, and perhaps cousins of George Casto.

John lived "on Mill Creek not far above Ripley", just where does not appear.

He was married and his children grown when he came to Jackson County. His children were William, John J and Daniel.

From Raymond Casto Family Bible, copied Aug 29, 1972
written in front of the Bible by a relative who had visited:
Big John Casto's wife, Sara McDade. Her father, Jesse McDade was killed by Indians. He killed 7 Indians with a hand spike before they killed him. The fight took place at the big bend in the Ohio River about 1690. [Was Sarah a McDade? Was her father killed about 1790, not 1690?]
