  Pioneers of Roane Co, WV by John A House: John Goff was one of the colony that settled at Horseshoe Bend of Cheat River in Tucker County, in 1772. Captain James Parsons and Robert Cunningham were in the party. John Goff married Elizabeth Welch, a sister of James Riddle's wife, who was of Scotch descent. (They were supposed to have married before coming to America.) John Goff died March 9, 1803. The children of John and Elizabeth Welch Goff were: James. Hannah. William. John. Joanna Luda.
