War of 1812
John Stanley came to Meigs county in its pioneer days, making his home in Scipio township, and becoming the owner of between 600 and 700 acres of farming land. He died at the age of 91 years, having lived in the township over fifty years, and his property was divied among his children. Felix received the homestead farm, which was the first land bought by his father in the county.
