Beauchamp ( Bushong ) 1755 - 1826 Dau. of Count Pierre Beauchamp, she is buried on Poca River as is Capt. Null - According to D.A.R. Capt. Null's father was John Null who died Oct.27,1765 York Co. Penn. Son of Phlip Null who came from Alsace - Lorraine France. Capt. Null B- Wrightsville York Co. Penn. Built first permanent settlement house in 3 different states, 1st Westmoreland Co. Pa. abt. 1770 -74 , 2nd in Lincolnton Lincoln Co. N.C. and discovered Coal on Poca River in 1797, and built the house in 1803. Died in 1834 of Colera at Pt. Pleasant most likely buried there.
Rev. Sam Boggess 1874 - 1961. Hill at end of Scott Ridge you go over to Cheery Fork is named for him Sam Bogges Hill, he was a farmer and a Salvation Baptist Church Minister.

My Grandparents, Lester and Gladys Boggess, ran Boggess Grocery for 27 years at Red House and had one at Nitro for 3 yrs. So have been in Business for 30 Yrs. Store had dry goods, gas, lamps, toys, feed, grease rack . Greyhound Bus Stop.

Cinder block building built by Albert Wolfe in 1931. Lester Boggess Jr. and his brother-in-law, Whopual Withrow, owned the business about 1953. In May of 1954 Lester Boggess Sr. bought it and ran it until 1982, 27 years. In those years he and Grandma ran a service station, sold dry good, toys, lamps, and had a grease rack. It was also a Greyhound bus stop. They even lived in the basement for a few years.
