Trooper W J Shrewsbury of the state police said. The officer said that the elderly man apparently stepped into the path of an automobile driven by Herbert N Watts, 42, of Nitro, near the Tyler Mountain school. His death was the 51st traffic fatality of the year in Kanawha County. The victim made his home with a son, Wiley E Bowling. He was taken to Charleston General Hospital in a Cunningham Funeral Home ambulance. A doctor pronounced him dead on arrival. Surving also are the wife, Alveria; two other sons, Frank, of Red House, and Warren of Buffalo; a brother, Henry, of Dunbar, 41 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
