Age 96, formerly of Bloomfield and Shaler Twp., and a resident for 7 years at St. Barnabas Village and the Arbors at Gibsonia, after a short illness, on Friday, February 10, 2012. Born May 7, 1915 in Braxton County, WV to the late Donlas and Sarah Hardman. United in marriage on July 10, 1939, she was the beloved wife of 55 years to the late James J. Miller. They owned and operated Miller's Doughnut Shop and 3 restaurants in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Miller enjoyed cooking, sewing, and quilting. She had made, and gave away, over 100 quilts. At St. Barnabas, she crocheted lap-robes for presents for patients, and was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in North Hills. Beloved mother of Della (Ronald E.) Slanina, James (Marilyn Goetz) Miller, Jr., and Donna (Jack) Klosky; cherished grandmother of Sharon (Peter) Terry, Diane (Thomas) Schachner, Ronald M. Slanina, Jason (Pam) Miller, Ricky (Christine) Miller, April (Nathan) Hill, Amber (Robert) Hadfield, Lisa Klosky-McVeigh, Timothy and Scott Klosky; also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters, including her twin sister, Veva Miller. Friends received Monday 3-8 p.m. at WINTER FUNERAL HOME, PC, 4730 Friendship Ave. Funeral Tuesday 10 a.m. Services 11 a.m. at Allegheny Cemetery, Temple of Memories.
