    • Paul Edwin Barnhart, 86 of Ravenswood, passed away January 8, 2018 at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley following a long illness.
      He was born November 23, 1931 in Kanawha County, a son of the late Wayne and Gladys Wilkinson Barnhart. Paul was a 1950 graduate of Ripley High School and was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He received a Bachelor of Art Degree in Education from Glenville State College and a Masters Degree in Education from the College of Graduate Studies in Institute. Paul served as a teacher and Principal in Jackson and Wood County. He was a member of the Jackson County Historical Society and The Sandyville United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 30 years. Paul also enjoyed Farming.
      He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Morris Barnhart; two daughters, Amanda and her husband Randy King of Sandyville and Amy and Husband Mark Smith of Silverton; three grandsons, Justin Hughes (Melinda) of Mt. Alto, Evan Hughes (Lisa) of Sandyville and Chad King (Angel) of Columbus, OH ; two great grandsons, Kolton and Jackson Hughes of Sandyville and Nathan and Lilly Rhodes of Mt. Alto; great granddaughter Tori King of Mt. Alto and ; brothers William (Carolyn) Barnhart of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; sisters Twila Miller of Tampa, Florida and Lola Ankrum (Wayne) of Silverton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
      In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Wilda Snyder: a son-in-law, Randall Hughes; grandson Scott King and nephews Christopher Albaugh and David Barnhart.
      Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Jarrod Caltrider officiating. Burial with Military Rites provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard will be in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the funeral home.
      In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation in memory of Paul to the Jackson County Historical Society or the Sandyville United Methodist Church.
      The family wishes to thank the Jackson Home Health, the staff of Jackson General Hospital and Dr. James Gaal for the kindness and care given to Paul during his illness.
