Mead Meredith Chancey Jr., 85, of Vienna, passed away July 8, 2012, at the Willows Nursing Center.
He was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Ravenswood, W.Va., a son of the late Mead M. and Mabel G. Warfield Chancey.
Mead was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in World War II. He was retired from E.I. DuPont, where he was a supervisor, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of American Legion Post 15.
Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Edith Turley Chancey; one son, Jeffrey Chancey and wife, Sherri, of Belpre, Ohio; one daughter, Darlene Church and husband, Joseph, of Coolville, Ohio; two sisters, Norma Jones of Parkersburg and Naomi Brown of North Carolina; and two grandchildren, Luke and Crystal Chancey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; and one sister.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. July 21 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with Pastor Jim Yoak officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full Masonic rites. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services July 21 at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Willows Nursing Facility and Dr. Brian Powderly for all their care and support.
