Carl Edward Johnson, 89, of Charleston went home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2009, after a short stay at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.
Carl was preceded in death by his mother and father, Almedia and Loren S. Johnson; five brothers; and a son, Terry Glenn Johnson.
He is survived by his loving and loyal wife, Orean Shamblin Johnson; son, John Johnson of Clendenin; daughters, Brenda Jenkins of Charleston and Joyce Newhouse of Charleston; and sisters, Nellie Skeen of Campbells Creek, Maxine Keifer of Clover and Phyllis Griffith of Columbus, Ohio; along with eight grandchildren, Tammy Wells and husband, David, Nicole Truman and husband, Rodney, Stephanie Price and husband, Richard, Ashley Johnson, Norma Redman and husband, Albert, Brian Newhouse, Terry Johnson and Nathan Johnson; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the compassionate and caring staff at Hubbard Hospice House and HospiceCare for the care he received with his long battle with cancer. Special thanks go to Amber, Jennifer and Scott.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 7, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Vanoy officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
