She was a homemaker, but also had worked for and retired from the Holiday Inn Corporation. She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Buddy Hicks; parents, W.S. Shaffer and Lucy Eden Shaffer; and several brothers and sisters. Surviving: sister, Faye Cantrell of Richwood; sisters-in-law, Frances Shaffer and Phyllis Hicks; and a host of nieces and nephews. Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 24, at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston, with Stanley Shaffer officiating. Burial will be in Samuels Cemetery, Charleston. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
