Denver Lloyd Casto, 86, of the Gunville Ridge community, Leon, passed away April 3, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 3, 1927, on Gunville Ridge Road, to Lloyd Preston and Minnie Ethel (Baker) Casto. A sister, Hazel Flowers, and a brother, Basil Casto, also preceded him in death.
Denver received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at Creston Church, where he attended his entire life. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after serving 33 years as a rural letter carrier and postmaster at the Leon post office. He was a charter member of the West Virginia State Farm Museum and served as a board member for many years. He enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include the love of his life, Lura Belle (Withrow) Casto, whom he married April 4, 1953, children, Diana (Dave) Caldwell of Plymouth, IN, Dennie (Robin) Casto and Jim (Lisa) Casto of Leon, Jerry (Vickey) Casto of Buckhannon, and Karla (Chuck) Whitney of Cottageville. He was a loving grandfather to 22 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Creston Church, Evans, with Rev. Trenton Casto and Rev. Gerald B. Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in Creston Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m., Saturday, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans.
