Kay served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam later retiring as a Staff Sergeant in 1972. After his military service, he also worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation retiring in 1994. Kay was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Evelyn Trent; brothers, David "Jr." Trent, Ballard Trent, Harry Trent; and by his sister, Margie Lambert. Surviving family include his wife, Elva Trent, of Goodview; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayde Russell and Constance Trent, of Cumming, Ga., Wesley Howard and Cheryl Trent, of Whiteman A.F.B., Mo., Walter Allen and Rene Trent, of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Morgan, Bryar, Michael and Katie Trent; sisters, Lottie Ross, Irene Avis, Dorothy Shepard; brothers, Sidney "Steve" Trent, Jr., Freddy "Duke" Trent, and George Trent. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at the Lotz Vinton Chapel. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.
