Billy Joe Gandee, 59, of Evans, WV, departed this life, January 11, 2001 at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, following a brief illness.He was born September 7, 1941, a son of the late, Foster and Vesta Mae (Crane) Gandee.He was a truck driver for Westbrook Trucking of St. Marys, WV, a former employee of Wirt Metals in Elizabeth, and a member of the Teamsters Union.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Betty L. (Barnette) Gandee; son, Lester Joe (Nickelle) Gandee of Evans; daughters, Lisa Gandee, and Linda (Timothy) Potter both of Evans; brothers, Jack Gandee of Charleston, Raymond Gandee of Ravenswood, Keith Gandee, Ronnie Gandee and Carl Gandee all of Ripley; sisters, Ruby Tolley of Ripley, Ruth Dowdy of Columbus, OH, Dorothy Utt of Evans, and Edna Bennett of Ravenswood.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny, George, Marshall and Junior; sisters, Josephine Hite and Virginia Martin.
Service will be Sunday, January 14, 2001--1 pm at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with the Rev. Randy Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in the Foster Chapel Cemetery, near Evans. Visitation 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
