Charles Everette Patterson, 87, of Cottageville, WV, passed away March 22, 2016, at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV.
He was born March 27, 1928, in Ripley, WV, the son of the late Rex James and Esta Elizabeth (Spears) Patterson. His brothers, Donald Patterson and Ralph Patterson; sisters, Rotha Bosworth, Della Canterbury and Audine Mansfield, and his daughter-in-law, Judith Patterson also preceded him in death.
Everette was a United States Army veteran and was stationed in the Philippines. He was the former operator of Ripley Ashland Service Station and later became employed by and read meters for the City of Ripley.
He was a member of American Legion Post #107, Ripley, attended the Mount Hope United Methodist Church, Palestine and the Ripley Church of Nazarene. He enjoyed fishing, feeding the birds and squirrels.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Izetta Jewell (Lockhart) Patterson; sons, Charles Patterson (Linda) of Oxford, GA, James Patterson of Cottageville, Timothy Patterson (Margie) of Letart and Kevin Patterson (Serena) of Bogata, TX; daughters, Susan Gandy (Marvin) of Clarksville, TX, Lori Anderson (Dwight) of Sandyville and Julie Burdette (Alex Buchanan) of Evans; sisters, Mary Gandee of Ripley and Bertha McFarland of Olmsted Falls, OH; 25 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild on the way.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre and Pastor Kristopher Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens with military honors by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Visitation will be 3 – 5 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
