Ola B. Fisher Printer, Dead
End Comes Peacefully After 35 Years Service in Printing and Publishing Establishments Here
After an illness of three years, Mrs. Ola B. Fisher, printer, known personally by virtually every printer of the old school in Charleston for the past 35 years, died peacefully at her home at 721 Indiana avenue yesterday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock. While she had been confined to her home for a long time, she seemed in better health and spirits recently than for a long time. She suffered a third stroke of paralysis Friday evening, quickly lost conscious and was not aware of any pain, doctors said.
During her lifetime the deceased was identified with nearly every printing establishment in the city. She went to work in a shop at 14 years and she made it her lifework. She learned every branch of the business and could perform every duty of a printer in first class style.
About 15 years ago, she and E. E. McClure, organized a printing and publishing business on Virginia street, near Alderson street. After several years the shop was moved to Summers street, near the post office, and later to Court street, near State street. She was signally successful in business, attracting a large volume of trade for the establishment by her pleasing personality.
Her's was a forceful character. She befriended from time to time many members of the printing profession who were in hard luck and her acts of charity among all classes were many.
Mrs. Fisher was 49 years of age. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Beulah Robinson, four brothers and two sisters. She had been a member of the Bream Memorial church for 21 years. she was born in Jackson county and came to Charleston when she was 11 years old. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at Bream Memorial church at a hour to be arranged today.
Ola married James E. Robinson (21 y.o. born Kanawha Co., WV) on April 1, 1896 in Kanawha Co., WV by Rev. B.A. Wimm, they were divorced at the time of Ola's death.
