SHINNSTON — Harl E. Carr, 77, of Hepzibah, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014.
He was born on February 2, 1937, in Spelter, the son of the late George and Donna Rhodes Carr.
He is survived by his wife, Leah Gaye Russel Carr; two sons, Rick Carr and wife Lisa of Bridgeport, and Eugene Carr of Flemington; three stepdaughters Debbie Long and husband Joe of Texas, Beverly Smith of Hepzibah and Sally Yohey of Ohio; two brothers, David Carr and wife Sue of Lamberts Run and Gary Carr of Lost Creek; three sisters, Wanda Pennington and husband Ernest, Loretta Beatty and husband Lincoln and Lavanna Carr, all of Hepzibah; also Donna Revill and husband Ray, whom he considered as a sister; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Along with his father and mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Denver and Roy Carr; one sister-in-law, Joann Carr; and one nephew, Charles Denver McNemar.
Harl worked as an auto mechanic and worked for George Keller and Jerry Hawkins. He also worked at the Clarksburg newspaper and was assistant manager for Carrolton Shell Co. in Riverdale, Md.
Family and friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, where services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, with Pastors Todd Jarman, Gary Carr and Ray Revill. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
