Michael Kipps was drafted into service from Rockingham Co, VA in 1777, month of April, where he was marched to Valley Forge, Pa., from there to New Jersy then to New York. His officers were Col Navel or Nevel, Cap Cooper. He left the service in April 1878. A few months after, he again entered the service as a substitute for Henry Stalf or Stalp, and served three months under Capt George Riddle. He entered the service a third time as a volunteer in August 1781, and served two months, leaving the service at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. He served a total of seventeen months in service. He was engaged in battles at Edmonds Hill, Norfolk, and at the last battle of the Revolution, at Yorktown.
