Pauline Hughes
Pauline (Higgins) Hughes, 89, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away October 13, 2018 in Ravenswood Village following a brief illness.
She was born December 22, 1928 in the Wilding Community of Jackson County a daughter of the late Cecil Ray and Myrtle Violet (Chancey) Higgins. Her husband, Claud “Lusion” Hughes and a sister, Wilma Buzzard preceded her in death.
She was a 1946 graduate of Ravenswood High School. She was a member of the North United Methodist Church, Ravenswood, WV, where she was the church pianist for 70 years. She was a former bookkeeper for Star Printing, Ravenswood, WV, WMOV Radio, Jackson County Bank and the Dutch Miller dealership. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, R. Douglas Chapter # 15 Ravenswood. Pauline enjoyed quilting, cross-stitch, crocheting and ceramics.
Survivors include her daughters, Pam (Stanley) Wood of Kenova, WV and Paula (Mike) King of Ravenswood; sister, Sandy (Virgil) Walters of Ravenswood; grandchildren, Stanley Adam Wood, Steven Andrew (Jennifer) Wood and Madison King; great- grandchildren, Cole and Nora Wood.
Service will be ~ 1 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 in the Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV, with Pastor Tom Nolan officiating. Burial will follow in the Ravenswood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to North United Methodist Church 205 Brown St. Ravenswood, WV 26164.
