Dora Mae Conner, 85, of Mineral Wells, died on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
She was born in Tyler Country on Feb. 4, 1926, to the late Albert and Rosa Hawkins Harter.
Dora was a longtime member of Chesterville United Methodist Church. During WWII she went and worked in factories to help our troops. She loved to garden and especially enjoyed growing roses and irises. She was skilled at crocheting and quilting and supplied her family with many of her pieces. She was a fantastic cook and would make her meals all homemade. She loved her family very much and would always try to keep everyone in touch with each other.
She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Scott (Clarence) of Mineral Wells; five sons, Jim Conner (Paula) of Warsaw, Ind., Darryl Conner (Cathy), Gary Conner, John Conner, and Paul Conner (Darlene), all of Mineral Wells; two step sons, Don Conner and Roy Conner (Marge) both of Mineral Wells; five grandchildren, Angie, Becky, Jenny, Isaac, and Katie; seven great-grandchildren, Toni, Darryl, Jacob, Victoria, Lincoln, Evelyn, and Alex; one sister, Geneva Posten of Akron, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends, Debbie Kent and Lois Mohr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, R.C. Conner, four brothers, six sisters, one daughter in law, Dorothy Conner
The funeral service will be held on Monday, 3 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home Parkersburg, with Steve Morgan officiating. Burial will follow the service at Chesterville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mineral Wells. Visitation will be held on Sunday, at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
