Captain William Henry Hicks, Sr., as mentioned regarding boat building in John House's paper of 1906, was a merchant and a captain of steamboats etc. And I believe is also mentioned as serving a committee and school board.   Born Dec. 1803 in Pennsylvania, USA. UNK parents at this time but parents were given property in Penn for their participation in the revolutionary war. My mom has them somewhere and will be looking. Hopefully it will lead to another generation.  Married Nancy Wright who was born in 1802 also in Penn.  Her mom is Mary born in New Jersey 1869.   William died 31 Jul 1864 and is buried in Wheatland, Clinton County, Iowa USA in the English Cemetery. He arrived in Iowa abt 1859 and became once again a merchant/store owner. Nancy died in 1878 at her son's home per family letters. She died in Greenfield, Adair, Iowa, USA. Unk graveyard. Tombstone on findagrave.
