My name is Larry Carsey and my grandfather was Pearly Leland Vannoy. He told me his father was Elmer Everett Vannoy (1890-1924) born in Silverton, Jackson Co. West Virginia to George and Liddia (Rice) Vannoy, and was married to Nola Mae Mossbarger on June 03, 1907 in Pike Co., Ohio. I was able to get a lot of information from your web site about his siblings but he and one of his brothers and his sisters were not listed as children of George and Liddia. They were Rosie Vannoy(b. aft. 1880) married to George Rowe; and Will Vannoy also born after 1880. I don't know if you wanted to add them to your list but if you find any additional information on them I would be glad to aquire it. Thanks for your time and service.

My grandfather tells the story of George Vannoy working on one side of the Ohio river and living on the other and walking across the frozen river to work during a blizzard. He said he got frost bite so bad that his eyelids, nose, lips, fingers, and toes all froze off and he died a painful and prolonged death. As for Lydia, I found her in the 1930 census living with her daughter Roxie Carmichael and her son Charles Vannoy. She's 86, Roxie's 54 and Charles is 53.
