I will start with (1) John Jacob Rothgeb, (born 1711 - died 1753) who came over to the United States from Egypt (where he had served 7 years for his passage to America) and married a girl who came over on the same ship, however her name is unknown. They had one son, George. Of his second marriage to a Miss Good there was one son Peter.
II George married Magdelena Biedler and had four children: Isaac, Abraham, Jacob and Elizabeth. Of his marriage to Mary Graybill there were four children: David, Barbara, and twins George and Christian (Mary died in childbirth when the twins were born.) He then married Barbara Bear and had: Samuel,, Joseph, John, Michael (my ancestor), Henry, Anna, Esther, Mary, Daniel and an infant daughter unnamed and Reuben.
III Jacob was born in 1711, married in 1802 and died March 18, 1851. I have no dates on his wife Barbara Wydick. They had Christian, Henry, George, Mollie, Rudolph, Jacob, Elizabeth, David and Joseph. They moved to Washington Co in 1800 and shortly after moved to Gallia Co, Oh, which was then all a wilderness. (Near Point Pleasant, WV, on the Ohio River) He then married Magdelena Barbara Smith and they had Tobias, John, Julia adn Benny.
IV Elizabeth Rothgeb was born Dec 8, 1817 adn married George Washington Rupe on May 12, 1837. Their children were: Henry, Caroline, Jonathan, Joseph, Adaline, Jacob Henry, a son who died at birth, Washington, William, Perry, and Franklin. Jonathan served in the Civil War 1861-1865 with General Sherman and Joseph served in the Civil War 1862-1865 with General Sheridan.

ROTHGEB, David - Born April 11, 1809 in Shenandoah Co., Va., son of Jacob and Barbara (Wideth) Rothgeb, who came to this county in 1810. Barbara was German by birth. David married here July 8, 1836 to Elizabeth Scott born here January 8, 1810, daughter of Charles and Mary (Darst) Scott. Charles Scott, son of Charles Scott of the Indian Wars. David and Elizabeth had Mary born May 26, 1837.
