Dear Sister,
As I have not written to you since I left the States I thought I had better drop you a few lines. I am well and feeling fine. I have not been sick a day since i have been here.
We are located so we can go to town most any evening for an hour or so. We could certainly have a great time evenings if we could talk French, but I cannot understand but a few words they say.
Sister, do not worry in the least about me. I am perfectly satisfied here and am truly glad that I am here to help uphold the standard of freedom.
We are located far behind the firing line and don't have the least idea when we will be ready for action. Not for several months perhaps.
I have seen some beautiful country since I came across and the scenery around camp is very beautiful. I have Saturday evenings off as a holiday. I think that I will go fishing. You know how that will please me. There are many things of interest which I could tell you, but our motto must be safety first. So I will keep those things to tell you in person.
Maude, do not think for a moment that I am located in a hud hole like we used to read about, for I am not. Send me a letter soon and all the news.
Your brother,
Corpl Lloyd Casto, 417689
