Zula Mae Harrison
Zula Mae "Grandma" Harrison, 93, of Dunbar passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at home, on Wednesday, July 1, 2009.
She was the daughter of the late James M. and Oda Casto and was born September 22, 1915, in Given. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband, Floyd O. Harrison; her son, James "Jim" Harrison; grandson, Billy Lanham; and her sisters, Velma Hays and Beulah Austin.
Zula was a lifelong member of Dunbar First Baptist Church and active in the church circle.
She is survived by her beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Harlan Jarvis, Debbie and Buzzy Lanham, and Diane and David Patton; along with daughter-in-law, Susan Gaskins and her husband, Ron. She delighted in the love of her grandchildren, Leann Durham, Leslie Boggess and her husband, Pat, Lori Bullock and her husband, Scott, Melanie Watson and her husband, Brian, Melinda Garbacz and her husband, Tony, and John Patton, and his wife, Latricia; great-grandchildren, Richard Lemon and his wife, Tia, Jamie Lemon, Nicholas, Zachary and Austin Martin, Chelsey, Lindsey and Nathan Boggess, Noah, Abbey and Caleb Watson, Payton Garbacz and Kaylee Ann Patton, due to join our family in October; and great-great-grandson, Sebastian Lemon.
Her family's most cherished memory will be her loving kindness to family and friends.
The family wants to extend special thanks to Mother's wonderful nurse, Holly McComas, for her dedication and love. Also a special thanks goes to HospiceCare.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Thomas E. Stevens Jr. and the Rev. Doyle D. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
Friends may call from noon until time of the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
