Dexter R. Casto
Dexter R. Casto, 82, of East Sparta, Ohio, died Saturday, September 26, 2009, in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness.
Born April 27, 1927, in Statts Mills, he was a son of the late Lafe and Stella J. (Skeens) Casto.
He was an East Sparta resident for the past 53 years and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he was a recipient of a Purple Heart. Dexter retired from the U.S. Army in 1952 and the Timken Company Department 63 in 1987 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Golden Lodge 1123 and loved gardening, yard sales and Kiko Auctions.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Joanne Casto; two brothers, Delmer "Buss" and Darrell Casto; and four sisters, Masel Hatcher, Elizabeth "Lizzy" Winters, Edra Casto and Glenva Casto.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Orbie M. (Lupardus) Casto; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jeannie Casto of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Tracy and Cynthia Casto of Doylestown, Ohio, Wayne and Lisa Casto of East Sparta, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Todd Davidson of East Sparta, Ohio; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Imogene Bush of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Siniaville Church, Statts Mills. Interment will be in Siniaville Church Cemetery.
