ORPHA SOUTHALL SPRINGFIELD--Mrs. Orpha E. Southhall, 73, Springfield, died in a Springfield hospital Thursday following a brief illness. Born in Staats Mill, W. VA, she was the widow of James Leonard Southall. She had lived in Springfield for 17 years. Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Lurlene Pierce, Mrs. Zona Thomas and Mrs. Ethel Ball, all of Springfield; Mrs. Lelia Cunningham and Mrs. Mae Curatolo, both of Charleston W.VA; Mrs. Alice Rhodes, Ripley, W.VA; Mrs. Ladonna Talbott, Reynoldsburg; Mrs. Eileen Chesser, Gahanna; two sons, Wendell, Glouster, and Levi, Crooksville; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Hettie Hughes, Magnetic Springs; Mrs. Dollie Tolley New Lexington and Mrs. Docha Fisher, Huntington, W.VA; two brothers, Clair and Lloyd Staats, both of Ripley, W.VA. The body will be taken to the Van Fossen Funeral Home, Glouster, where friends may call Saturday afternoon and evening. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Van Fossen Funeral Home with burial following in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster. The Athens Messenger March 31, 1967, Page 6 Ortha was the daughter of Riley and Alice Casto Staats. She was married to James L Southall in 1910 in Jackson Co., WVA.
