"Woody" Bowling, 72, of Red House, Putnam County, died July 3, 1997, in Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane, after a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Red House and was retired from Laborers Union Local 1353 with 51 years' service. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Paradise Church of God Mission. Surviving: wife, Rosalee Randolph Bowling; son, Woody Junior Bowling of Red House; daughters, Barbara Hatfield of Chesapeake, Judy Dotson and Diana Criner, both of Red House; sisters, Myrtle Priddy, Othena Higginbotham, Dortha Thornton and Ruth Thornton, all of Red House, Lola Persinger of Scott Depot, Beulah Rollins of Beckley, Violet Thornton of Rockford, Ill., Carolyn Scott of Eleanor; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Paradise Church of God Mission with the Rev. Danny Hughes officiating. Burial will be in New Antioch Cemetery, Confidence. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Gatens Funeral Home, Poca.
