Information from "Jackson County West Virginia Past & Present". In an article by the granddaughter of Mary Virginia Sherman, names and dates are given, stating Henry had five brothers and five sisters. He was a river boat pilot on the Ohio, then became a doctor in Kentucky. She tells how, when she was 4 years old, Union soldiers stormed into their home, looking for Confederate soldiers they believed Henry was treating. She tells how Henry stood up to those rough men as they "made into the bedroom where she stood beside the bed of her mother, who had just given birth to her little brother, Rufus."
