    • "From the Rhine to the Shenandoah":
      Christian and Susanna were married in Germany, probably just before emigrating in 1732, He was listed as age 24 and she as 23 when they arrived in Philadelphia in Aug 1732 aboard the ship 'Samuel'. He signed the oath of allegiance to the British King as "Christian Beudler".
      May 1734 - obtained a survey warrant for 100acres
      1736 - had settles on Perkiomen Creek, Philadelphia Co
      Built a grist mill and dye works
      1744 - Sold property and moved to Lebanon Twp, Lancaster Co
      Dec 1858 - Anna Barbara, age about 17, daughter of Christian Beutler and his deceased wife Susanna was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church, York Co, PA
      Christian wrote will, 2/5/1767, probated 3/11/1767

      Jacob Rothgeb, father of George was an early pioneer in the Massanuttne region and died in 1752. George inheirited land on the South Fork of the Shenandoah from his father and lived ther the rest of his life. Maagdelena was the first of George's three wives. When he wrote his will in 1817, he named 16 children. The will was probated 11 nov 1823 (Shen Co Will Book "M" p 253, also see Harry M Strickler, "Forerunners" p 219 for identity of children.
