Obituary
Nancy Hammond, daughter of John and Sallie Ferrell, was born in Russell County, Virginia, March 21, 1823. And on the 18th day of June, 1904, after a period of six years of widowhood, she breathed her last. On March 26, 1840, in Russell County, Virginia, she married Robert Hammond. In 1842 they moved to Jackson County; made her home there until 1877, when they came to Nicholas county where she resided until her death. She professed faith in Christ, and connected herself with the Primitive Baptist Church at the age of seventeen, and continued until the day of her death a faithful and jealous christian. Mrs. Hammond was a faithful wife, a loving mother, a generous friend, a kind neighbor, and a true christian, Four children out of ten are left to mourn the loss of a loving mother, but thanks be to God "they mourn not as those that have no hope". May God bless and sustain her grief-stricken relatives, and may htey all meet this departed one in that Home "where there is no sickness, sorrow, pain nor death".

Death Records) daughter of John Owen and Sarah Elizabeth (Allison) Ferrell. Martin and Mary settled in Roane Co. in 1848-49. [John Owen Ferrell born 1 Jan 1800 Russell Co., Va., died 3 Feb 1872.
