EVANS - Laura Bethany Powers, 102, of Ripley, died Feb. 12, 1995 at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born in Fletcher, W.Va., a daughter of the late William Webster and Rebecca Ann Smith Fields. She was a domestic care giver and was the last charter member of the Ephesis Baptist Church on Grass Lick.
Surviving are one son, Carl O. Powers of Spring Hill, Fla.; one daughter, Grace Madden of Coral Gables, Fla.; one sister, Cazzie Snyder of Ripley; eight grandchildren; 14 g4reat-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Overton Powers, and one son, Hiram Powers.
Services 11 a.m. Thursday, Ripley Tabernacle, the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial Fairplain Cemetery.
Visitation 4 - 8 p.m. today, Casto Funeral Home, Evans, and at the church 10 - 11 a.m. Thursday.
