William Austin Casto
William A. Casto, 92, of Ormond Beach, Fla., passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, following an extended illness.
He was born on Nov. 26, 1915, in Jackson County and was a son of the late Oscar O. and Leota Fields Casto. He was also preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in five major engagements in the Medical Corps, and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed church activities at Indigo Lakes Baptist Church, where he was a member, and enjoyed gardening, fishing and reading.
Mr. Casto was a graduate of Ripley High School and the New York School of Interior Design. He retired as vice president of Boll Furniture Company, Charleston, in 1980.
Surviving are his wife, Erma B. Casto of Ormond Beach, Fla.; son, William A. Casto II of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, William Gregory Casto and Cheryl Bone of St. Albans; stepson, Andrew C. Black Jr. of Chesapeake, Va.; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Denvil G. Casto of Mount Jackson, Va.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Fairplain Cemetery, Fairplain, with the Rev. Noel Harpold of the First Baptist Church of St. Albans officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service.
Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, is in charge of arrangements.
