Jackson Herald
S/Sgt. Folie D. Litton, of Cottageville, Wva, recently was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat in Italy. He is serving with Lt. Gen. Mark Clark’s 85th “Custer” Infantry Division. His sister, Lola M. Miller, lives in Cottageville. (Friday, Dec 22, 1944)
Folie D. Litton
Folie D. Litton, 98 years, six months, and 24 days, died July 28, 2006, at the Ravenswood Care Center, Ravenswood.
He was born on January 4, 1908, in Jackson County, to Ira and Leora Staats Litton. He retired from Standard Brands, Inc., now Nabisco Brands, Inc., with 42 years of service. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Charleston, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 337 Infantry of the 85 Division in the African and Italy Campaign.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Helen H. Litton; sisters, Myrtle Miller, and Clairfay Dodgen Bradley; and brothers, Flavy and Flao Litton.
He is survived by nieces, Debra Smith, JoEllen Nicholson, and Sandra Richardson; nephews, James Litton, and J.D. Bradley; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
The service will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2006, at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home with Pastor George Bramble officiating. Burial will be in the Fairplain Cemetery, Fairplain.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Central United Methodist Church, 731 Bigley Ave., Charleston, WV 25302.
