Nicholas and Eliza died within 10 days of each other in the terrible flu epidemic of 1918. Nicholas d. 30 Nov 1918 and Eliza d. 10 Dec. 1918.....leaving my father (5yrs old) and his siblings orphans. Some of the children went to live with relatives, but my father and two of his sisters were raised in the New Brighton Children's Home.
