Richard Earnest "Speedy" Casto, 84, of Madison passed away December 16, 2011 at Boone Memorial Hospital, Madison. He was born May 22, 1927, and was a son of the late Earnest and Ada Casto.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Clarice Casto; daughter, Sharon; brother, Clare Casto; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Esta and Layfette Parsons, Laura and Basil Hutton and Austin Cobb.
He was a Christian; a retired coal miner for Castle Rock Coal; and a member of UMWA with 38 years of service. He is survived by sons, Keith (Sue) Casto, Mitchael Casto and Gregory (Cynthia) Casto; grandchildren, Richie (Kristi) Casto, Brian (Lacie) Casto and Olivia Casto; great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Casto and Shelby Casto; sisters, Fannie Cobb and Mildred (Claude) Casto; and several nephews and nieces.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 22, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Walter Gore officiating. Burial will follow in Goshen Cemetery, Kentuck.
