The Rector Cemetery, located on top of the hill north of Little
Sandy Road and east of State Rt. 68, was deeded to the M.E. Church South. There are 17 marked graves that Carolyn was able to find. Among these are:
L.L. Rector, born 20 Oct 1814, died 20 Jan 1902, age 87y 3m.
Sarah B. Rector, wife of L.L. born 25 Aug 1831, died 21 Aug 1910.
In 2001, Visit to the cemetery shows their headstone reads:

Leavin L. RECTOR - son of Charles and Sally (Rust) Rector, was born in Fauquier county, Virginia, October 20, 1814, and has been a resident in Jackson county, West Virginia, since 1858. His marriage was consummated in Wirt county, this State, May 5, 1847, and his wife is Sarah B., daughter of Isaac B. and Nancy (DeWitt) Sherman. She was born in Jackson county, in which county her parents settled in 1827, and the date of her birth was August 25, 1831. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Rector are nine living and one deceased. These children were born: William L., March 16, 1848; Catholeen (Robey), March 17, 1850; Mary (Cooper), February 3, 1852; Harriet, February16, 1854; Henry L., August 18, 1856; Susan E., December 23, 1859; Virginia D., March 20, 1861; Kate E., March 18, 1864; John C., June 27, 1867, died November 2, 1868; Blanche, February 19, 1870 - all the living children reside in this district. Grant district has been the home of the married life of Mr. and Mrs. Rector, and his occupation is farming, his post office address is Sherman, Jackson county, West Virginia. Samary S Sherman - Deed to L L Rector and Steptoe Rector
This indenture made this fifth day of November 1856 between Samary S Sherman, widow of Isaac B Sherman deceased of the one part and LL Rector and Steptoe Rector of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Samary S Sherman for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and fifty dollars good and lawful money of the United Stated to be paid by the said LL Rector and Steptoe Rector as follows to wit Two hundred dollars on or before the first day of March 1857 and Three hundred and fifty dollars on or before the first day of March 1858 and fifty dollars more on the said land (provided the said Samary S Sherman redeems the two hundred and fifty acres of land sold to E L Rotty Have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said LL Rector and Steptoe Rector and unto their heirs and asigns forever a certain lot piece or parcel of land situate lying and being on the Ohio River in Jackson County being a part of the land owned by Isaac B Sherman in his life time and containing about one and thirty acres of land by the same more or less. To have and to hold the said lot piece or parcel of land with the appurtenances unto the said LL Rector and Steptoe Rector their heirs and asigns forever and unto the only proper use and behoof of them the said LL Rector and Steptoe Rector their heirs and assigns forever and the said Samary S Sherman the said lot piece or parcel of land and premises hereby granted or indented so to be with the appurtenances unto the said LL Rector and Steptoe Rector their heirs and asigns against the interest in the said land of her the said Samary S Sherman as provided by the will of her late husband Isaac B Sherman will warrant and forever defend.
In witness whereof the said party had hereunto set her hand and affixed her seal the say and year first above written.
