Laura J. Reed
Laura J. Reed, 85, of Charleston, went to be with the Lord, January 23, 2009, at Hubbard Hospice House, after a long illness.
She was born April 1, 1923, in Jackson County, and is the last surviving child of the late Johnie and Martha Francis Tolley Fields.
Her husband, Lacy H. Reed; children, Gloria A. Soper and Eddie W. Reed; granddaughter, Dena Louise Reed; and grandson, Larry Reed, also preceded her in death.
She was a Baptist and a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, who was loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving family, sons, Raymond E. Reed (Sandy Harrison), and Larry H. Reed (Cindy); and daughter, Mary L. Anderson, all of Charleston; daughters, Norma L. Goff (Keith) of Sissonville, Katherine K. Hudson (Mark), and Robin L. Reed (Randy Jones), all of Charleston; daughter-in-law, Jeanett Reed of Charleston; son-in-law, Frank Soper of Texas; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 26, at Elk Funeral Home, 2001 Pennsylvania Ave., Charleston, with Pastor K. Linden Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
The family will receive friends from one hour before the service Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Dr., Charleston, WV 25311.
