Wilson "Dusty" Rhodes, 84, of Palestine, W.Va., died Monday afternoon, March 28, 2005, at the Jackson General Hospital, Ripley.
Dusty was born in Spencer, a son of the late Holly Wilson and Thelma Mullenix Jordan Rhodes. He retired from the C&P Telephone Co., served as president of the Wirt County Fair Board for nine years, was past president of the Morgantown Civitan Club and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Rhodes graduated from Spencer High School and attended Mountain State Business College.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Allen Rhodes; daughter and son-law, Patsy and Donald Brannon of Charlton Heights, W.Va.; son and daughter-in-law, David and Christine Rhodes of Bisbee, Ariz.; grandchildren, Debbie Powell of Leon, W.Va., the Rev. Shawn Brannon of Kenna, W.Va., and Erin Rhodes and Michael Rhodes, both of Bisbee, Ariz.; eight great-grandchildren, Emily, Abagail, Meghan, Jacob and Sarah Brannon, Donovan and Micah Powell and Jeremy Rhodes; and sisters, Patricia Fouty of Reedy, W.Va., and Justine Cheuvront of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Nelson and Keith Rhodes.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Busch-Kimes Funeral Home of Elizabeth. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Route 33. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and prior to the services Thursday at the funeral home.
The family has asked that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
