Golda Irene Rhodes, 89, of Leon passed away December 24, 2011 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio, following a short illness. She was born December 12, 1922 in Gay, a daughter of the late Ezra and Lee Orza Allen. She retired as a teacher from Fleet Business College in Maryland, and was a member of the West Ripley Church of Christ. She is survived by a daughter, Patsy Brannon of Charlton Heights; a son, L. David Rhodes of Bisbee, Ariz.; grandchildren, Debra Powell, Shawn Brannon, Michael Rhodes and Erin Rhodes; and great-grandchildren, Donovan Powell, Micah Powell, Emily Crihfield, Abby Brannon, Meghan Brannon, Jacob Brannon, Sarah Brannon and Jeremy Rhodes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Wilson J. "Dusty" Rhodes; brothers, Ralph Allen, Ezra Allen, Jr, Ray Allen and Delbert Allen; and a sister, Lorene Theobald. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gay. Friends may call two hours prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
