Thelma Myrtle Rhodes Casto - Herald-Dispatch
THELMA MYRTLE RHODES CASTO, 92, of Huntington, died Oct. 14, 2002, at the Woodlands Retirement Community, Huntington. She was born Jan. 15, 1910, a daughter of the late Rector and Alice Westfall Rhodes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Starling D. Casto; sisters Ora Rhodes, Lee Orza Allen, Corda Fields and Virgie Fields; and brothers Owen and Otis Rhodes. She was a member of Ripley Baptist Temple and the American Legion Auxiliary. She and her husband owned and operated Casto's Super Market in Ripley. She is survived by daughters Lenora Sutphin of Huntington, Sue Ann Hartley of Huntington and Emma Hancock of Parkersburg; three grandchildren, Debbie Wilson of Parkersburg, Sherry Wilson of Woodbridge, Va., and Judy Overholser of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Rick Perrine and the Rev. Thomas Nolan officiating. Burial will be in Fairplain Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Vail Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Ripley Baptist Temple Church, 320 Charleston Drive, Ripley, WV, may be made.
