John Frederick Tolley
John Frederick Tolley, 71, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, formerly of Ripley, W.Va., passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Mount Carmel East Hospital. He had been a patient for three years at Winchester Place Nursing Home, where he received very good care.
He was born Dec. 19, 1933, at Gay, W.Va., a son of the late William Estel and Ada Elizabeth Rhodes Tolley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Columbus, and was tooling supervisor with Rockwell International, having worked at Cape Canaveral. He also was employed as the parts manager for the Ripley Garage for 18 years. He was an avid hunter, a member of the Jackson County C.B. Radio Club, a lifetime member of the Ripley VFW Post 5501, and active in the Reynoldsburg Senior Citizens, where he organized and started an area to play horseshoes. He also loved to clog.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Ann Poling Tolley; a son and his wife, John D. and Bonnie L. Tolley of Pinkerington, Ohio; grandchildren, Zachary Tolley and Kyndall Tolley; one brother, William “Zeke” Tolley and his wife, Margaret, of Ripley, W.Va.; three sisters, Mary Frances Snyder of Sandyville, W.VA., Dortha Lee Angus of Ripley, W.Va., and Joyce Williams and her husband, Bill, of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cleo Tolley.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at the Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, W.Va., with John Gunther officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley, W.Va.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, Mid Ohio Valley Regional Office, 508 Columbia Ave., Williamstown, WV 26187.
