Golden N. Crane, 91, of St. Albans, formerly of Jackson County, went home to be with the Lord on December 24, 2010, Christmas Eve, at his home, with family surrounding him.
He was born to the late Orva Rawlings and Ebb Crane on June 11, 1919 in Jackson County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Chloe Crane.
He was of the Christian faith and attended Bible Center Church, Charleston. He graduated from Marshall University and worked as a chemist for Union Carbide for 30 years.
Mr. Crane served his country in the U.S. Army, with the rank of Staff Sgt., in the 41st Infantry Division in the Southwest Pacific, where he also a received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW Post 6418, St. Albans.
Surviving him are his wife of 56 years, Margie; sons, Steve and Cindy Crane of Richmond, Va., Al and Kelley Crane of Grants Pass, Ore.; daughter, Sherri Crane of St. Albans; grandchildren, Ginny Gregory and Jared Crane, both of Richmond, Va., and Reilly and Lily Crane, both of Grants Pass, Ore.; sister, Margaret Smith of Fairplain; brother, Cam and Joan Crane of Fairplain; and several nieces and nephews.
