Brady Carpenter, 78, of Cross Lanes died Nov. 7, 1998, at home after a long illness.
He was a retired customer service representative for Columbia Gas Transmission Corp. with 30 years' service. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and attended Cross Lanes Bible Church. He was a 48-year resident of Cross Lanes.
Surviving: wife, Goldie V. Casto Carpenter; daughter, Judy Justice of Hurricane; son, Steve Carpenter of Cross Lanes; sisters, Rada Hutton of Ravenswood, Glada Horn and Freda Reynolds, both of Ripley, Myrtle Scarbrough of Dunbar, Celia Young of Cross Lanes, Frances Gray of Burley, Idaho; brothers, Bert Carpenter of Cross Lanes, Hays Carpenter of Ripley; two grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, Cross Lanes, with Pastor Dan Berger officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites conducted by Charleston VFW Post 8129, will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
