He was a mechanic for several construction companies. Surviving: wife, Margaret Field Jeffries; son, Bernard of Gay; daughters, Brenda Bertagnoli of Evans, Kathy Jeffries of Gay; stepson, Ronald Hatcher of Ripley; sisters, Mamie Cummings and Ruth Stalnaker, both of Gay, Evelyn Thomas of Kenna, Verna Jones; five grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Jeffries Cemetery, Gay, with the Rev. Ronald King officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley.
