Joshua D. Raines
Joshua Daniel Raines, 18, of Kenna departed this life Friday, July 28, 2006.
Josh was born March 16, 1988, in Charleston, the son of Dannie L. and Linda Santonocito Raines of Kenna. He leaves those who loved him with a great void and loss for a life which held such promise.
Josh, as he was better known, was a wonderful young man with many friends and family who cherished his contagious smile, kind manner and quiet personality. He had graduated with the class of 2006 from Ripley High School, had qualified for the coveted Promise Scholarship and had plans to leave to attend school at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He looked forward to each new opportunity the future held. Josh attended and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley. He enjoyed being with his friends and hunting each fall with his dad, uncles and cousins. He especially loved being "Uncle Josh" to his nephew, Dailyn.
Josh leaves behind his parents, Dannie and Linda, who will forever miss his beautiful smile, hugs and all their hopes for his future; a sister, Brianna Raines of Ripley; and one nephew, Dailyn, who adored his Uncle Josh and felt Josh's love for him reciprocally.
Josh was a loving grandson and felt the love returned by maternal grandparents, Joseph and Ann Marie Santonocito of Boston, N.Y., and paternal grandmother, Belle Raines of Kenna.
He was loved by aunts, Diane (Hob) Hall of Boston, N.Y., JoAnn Santonocito of Boston, N.Y., and Uncle John (Cindy) Santonocito of Concord, N.Y. He also felt the love of aunts, Patty (Gene) Raines of Evans, Glennis (Cecil) Boyce, Dorothy (James) Hodges of Kenna, Karen (Jerry) Rhodes of Ripley, Patty (Harvey) Wilson of Parkersburg, and Carrie (Joe) Dado of Columbus, Ohio. Uncles, Paul (JoAnn) Raines of Ripley and David (Louise) Raines of Kenna also loved him.
Josh shared a special relationship with many cousins, who found time to laugh and watch him grow into a fine young man.
His paternal grandfather, Hobert L. Raines and an uncle, Gene Raines, preceded Josh in death.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Epworth United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Ken Krimmel officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the church.
The family requests donations be made to the Building Fund of Epworth UMC, 311 W. North St., Ripley, WV 25271.
