  Notes	Charleston Daily Mail Charleston, WV Wednesday, March 2, 2005 Luther J. Smith Luther J. Smith, 94, of Ripley died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at his home following a long illness. He was born Dec. 9, 1910, a son of the late Joseph Bailey and Matilda Harper Smith. He was a carpenter. He is survived by a sister, Ruth Counts of Iowa City, Iowa; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dessie Mae Cobb Smith, five brothers and one sister. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, with Minister Clifton McLawhorn officiating. Burial will be in Fairplain Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
