Mrs. Elizabeth Jones, aged 99 years 1 month and 25 days, died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. David Tod, 2150 West Federal St., at 7:30 o'clock last night from heart disease.
The deceased was the daughter of James McCarty and Katie Ann Circles McCarty, and was descended from one of the first families of Virginia. She was born in Cheshire, Gallia county, that state, and came to Youngstown 50 years ago. She was three times married, her last husband being the late W. P. Jones, who died 23 years ago. She is survived by two children, both of whom, live in this city. They are James W. Cossler and Mrs. Virginia Edwards. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
The late Mrs. Jones never wore a pair of spectacles She was industrious and had patched one quilt and started another since her birthday in January. Her memory was most wonderful. She was not only able to tell what happened in the early part of the century, but kept posted on all current events, such as politics and public improvements, and was even interested in the work of the local baseball team.
The deceased gave an informal reception upon her every birthday, but these affairs were always for the young people. She had no ideas in common with the older folks who were not in keeping with the tines. At her last party she said: "If you invite anybody, invite the young people. I prefer their company."
Hebron Lodge, I.O.O.F., always remembered her upon these occasions and sent a present of a gold piece. They will be invited to attend the funeral of the deceased, who was a Daughter of Rebecca.
Mrs. Jones, was a member of Trinity M.E. Church, and until recent years, when
incapacitated by years, never failed to attend the regular meetings.
The deceased had been ill but a few days from pneumonia, which, with heart trouble, caused her death. She expired so gently that the watchers at first thought that she was asleep and made efforts to arouse her.
The services attending the funeral will be held at the family residence Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the interment in Oak Hill cemetery,
Note: James W. Cossler, my Father, and Mrs. Virginia Edwards, my Aunt, were
children of my Grandmothers first marriage. My Grandfather, William Cossler,
died from fever, while returning to Kentucky from a flat boat trip to New
Orleans.

Based on her age here, and the fact that there is more proof for her brother Ben's DOB, I believe the age in her obit is probably incorrect by 10 years - maybe a typo.
